Marketing Intelligence for Local Businesses in Trefechan
Trefechan is a locality in Ceredigion, in the Wales region. It falls within the SY23 postcode district. Neighbouring places include Dyffryn Castell, Llanfarian and Chancery. Aberystwyth grew up around the Edwardian castle and walled borough founded in 1277, but it was the railway's arrival in 1864 that turned it into a seaside resort — and on the very same day, Wales's first pier opened here, an 800-foot Royal Pier with a 2,000-seat pavilion. Eight years later the town became home to the first university college in Wales, opening in 1872 with just 25 students in a half-finished seafront hotel.
A proposed Business Improvement District for Aberystwyth, 'Advancing Aberystwyth', was voted down by 60% of businesses in its ballot; the town's independent traders instead organise through the free, volunteer-run Aberystwyth Business Club, which campaigns for local business and lobbies the Welsh Government on their behalf. ONS counted 4,070 VAT and/or PAYE registered businesses here.
26.8% of working-age people in Ceredigion were economically inactive in 2023 (ONS). Numbers like that are part of the backdrop marketing intelligence is built to work within.
